There is really nothing quite like the sounds of Summer.
As we walked on the streets of Jackson Hole, WY on Independence day, we came upon a community band playing John Phillips Souza songs. Very American - despite the Lebanese name. (Yes, Lebanese). I love his use of the brass instruments and most importantly, both of my boys that play at the moment were very impressed with the ones playing their individual instruments. I hope they were inspired.
I love the sound that a river makes as it is rushing by along its way to wherever it will end up. How many dams will it pass through? How many people will be able to exist because of it's course? Will some get enjoyment of it's cool freshness? How many fish, mammals and foul will be given life due to it's influence?
I love listening to a lively debate over politics. Such morons sit on both sides of the isle in Congress and the Senate. What would Jefferson, Washington, Franklin, and Adams think of the mess we have made of their inspired work?
I love the sound of my 4 wheeler running through the outdoors. I stay on trails for the most part, but how fun it is to have the wind rush past my body as I look for new horizons at every turn.
I love the sound of the Blue Angels as they fly not 100 yards over the top of the building I am working in. (After the initial shock). The men and women of our Military deserve our most sincere thanks. I fill with pride as I have watched these aeronauts practice over the last few days. What a cool job. What American ingenuity.
It is OK to think that I live in the best country in the world. Without this knowledge, I can't say that I would be able to have written the above statements.
Fly on, Men, Fly on!!!
This was rather poetic and a change of pace for you. :) I enjoyed it. You know what sound I love the most? Silence. Ok, that's only true right now in this moment when I've had a long day of whining and screaming. :)
ReplyDeleteNice post David. How cool you get to see the blue angels on a regular basis....
ReplyDeleteand How can it be 7 years since we lost your Dad and my beloved brother?
AND We got back to Bish's in time to set up the trailer and watch the entire $150 show for $0. We got to see them all do their thing from WWII planes, to Korea era planes to Viet Nam era planes to F16s. (The blue angels). Marcy got some great pics(we hope), as they flew right over us! Cool, Cool, Cool. It was also fun to have Alex lecture us on all of the different planes and what they were good for in war. It was a great Weekend!
